It is ironic, that executing a death penalty in the US is about 100 000$ more expensive than a life sentence, which now apparently leads to the fact that several US states put the death penalty on intermission because it's too expensive to kill people in the light of the financial and economic crisis.

1. "Applying the death penalty" or "death penalty execution". It's how it's phrased here.

2. The $ goes before the number, along with a comma.

3. We've known the energy cost of murdering people on death row for a while. And I agree. It's ironic, but for me it's ironic that the only reason asshole states are holding off on some death penalty executions is because of the recession. However, there are some (like Texas) that won't give a shit about wasting energy or money.

*g* Thanks :)

I was in such a range after my Mother's rampage I think I didn't even look over it. I'd just read the newspaper article and found it ironic, same as you, that the main reason for holding off is the recession.

*snort* Indeed. There's this joke going around about how the recession is being blamed for bad first dates. *g*
